Weather Conditions

Clear winter days with fresh evenings and mornings as a rule.

Perfect Winter Days

The weather here in “Tropical North Queensland” can get a little wild at times.

The summers however can be very unpredictable. Storm cells move through and monsoon troughs can cause havoc, not to mention the good old cyclones.

  • Where will they cross?
  • What Category?
  • What will they call it?
  • Will we loose power?
  • Do we have enough food?
  • Are the roads open?

The way to survive and thrive is to know what’s going on and to be prepared.

Here are a few fantastic sites that have heaps of  live weather conditions info, history of the area, future predictions, how to prepare and even where to volunteer after a disaster.

Check them out. I’m sure you will be fascinated like I was to see all the facts and figures. You could be there for ages though, so be sure to come back 🙂

Enjoy!! Cheers

Watch the Radar

We are the Green Circle!!

A great place to start is at the  Bureau of Meteorology, or the BOM

This link will take you to the 512 km Mackay radar. Current weather warnings here also.

Fascinating links at {what a great name} all about past cyclones, rainfall and temperature. Even population.

These guys have everything, so why try and invent the wheel?

It is also a site for preparing for emergency weather situations. Heaps of contact links to emergency services, how to volunteer etc.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!

If you are travelling in the area and would like to know about road conditions the RACQ Road Conditions site is probably your best bet. When the rains are on the creeks come up, roads close and even locals can get a little stranded.

Remember the Number One Rule:

“If it’s Flooded, Forget It!!”

Don't drive through flooded creeks!!
