It was fantastic to see Calen buzzing with our new
Community Markets recently.
What a great idea Peta Sturdy. Good on you for taking action and making it happen! I’m sure it will become a regular event. Funds raised were donated to the RSL Hall.
The block of land next to the RSL hall was perfect for the markets. I for one was surprised how many stalls could be set up, with room for even more.
Yummy food and great catch ups, topped off an awesome morning. Lunch across the road at the Calen Hotel seemed a popular choice too.
We have so many talented locals making and promoting cool things.
Also lots of bargains to be found with many families clearing outgrown items . One person’s trash really can be another person’s treasure.
Fish Moulds Mackay display was a crowd favourite!!
Have your best catch turned into a talking piece by talented locals from Seaforth.

This Mud Crab made my mouth water!
So prevalent in our waterways and part of many local’s diet.
Hardworking ladies were cranking out the yummy treats inside the RSL kitchen.
Fundraising efforts were also well supported by the locals.
Time to draw the Calen District Progress & Sports Association’s raffle.
Hardworking chef and CDPSA President Fiona popped out from lunch prep at M’Lanes Restaurant for the draw. Peta drew out the lucky winner’s ticket.
Thanks to everyone who supported our first ever raffle!
In closing I would like to say this was a lovely day, well supported and accepted by locals. Our community spirit is continuing to grow and prosper. Keep it up everyone, we live in a fantastic area. Let’s continue to promote our lifestyle and talents and have some fun along the way!!
See you at the next Calen Community Markets.
